Wordless Wednesday - May 21, 2008

These pictures came from my friend Scott as he was driving out of the area where he lives, about 20 - 25 miles from where I'm at. Don't ever let anyone tell you that there are no alligators in northern Louisiana.

  1. Is that Lyle Lyle the Crocodile out for a walk?
Well, the good thing is, that you did not find him at your front door step or in your yard hiding under a bush.

My WW is a lovely sandcastle -- you might want to stop over and refresh yourself!

  2. I live in too tame an area for an alligator to wander into, not that it couldn't happen but it's not likely. Scott lives next to a Wildlife Refuge so it's not a surprise that he would see this. Besides, Mr. Woody K. Nibs, the great hunter cat, would make short work of this guy at my house! lol

  4. Holy cow, that is strictly a "zoo shot" here in CT. I can't even imagine running into a beastie like that in the wild!

Thanks for stopping by to see my WW shot!

  5. Oh wow! Here in PA we don't see those in the wild! But I have seen one in Northern Florida--they are so much bigger in person than at the zoo!

    Great shots :)

  20. I think I'd rather put up with the potential of earthquakes here in California rather than risk seeing of of THOSE in my yard. Eeeek! It sure makes for a great picture though. I just prefer to shoot them through the glass at the zoo. :)

  24. That's a really impressive gator. I'll never doubt there are gators in northern Louisiana again.

  25. Wow. I don't think I would want to run up on that fellow!!!

Not really an issue here in TN but you never know...

Re: Your comment in Mary Beth's blog entry...

The recent moon was the May Full Flower Moon.

The New Moon is at a different time of the month. But there is a New Moon and a Full Moon, each and every month. :-)

But one of the 'Twilight' series of books, is called 'New Moon.' Perhaps that is what Mary Beth was thinking of...

  29. Crocs scare me! We went on a tor of the Okefenokee (sp?) swamp last year. WAY to many crocs in close vicinity to me! :D

BTW: Thanks for visiting and commenting on my WW post!

  30. Wow! They are so primeval looking. I wouldn't want to meet one along the road. Isn't he supposed to be in the water? What's he doing inland? Eeek.

  31. That's out in the public and not in the zoo??!! *gulpz*

  32. Oh geez ! I just imagine that charming companion in my garden, lol ! We only have crocodiles in the Zoo !

  33. I live in FL and we have gators EVERYWHERE. I stay away from all bodies of water - even though I laugh at the signs that say "WARNING! Do not feed or molest Alligators!"

Thanks for commenting on my WW, too :)
