This swing looks peaceful and inviting and I sometimes long to go over and sit in it, particularly later in the day... when the weather is cooler... and when the mosquitoes aren't biting. If it belonged to the neighbors on the other side of me, I would feel free to do that. The couple who have the swing are not really all that friendly and I wouldn't be comfortable even asking. They are pleasant enough but have remained distant so I tend to be hesitant in pursuing a neighborly relationship with them. They do have a sweet little boy that I enjoy talking to and I love to watch him and his friends at play. I wish I had half of his energy!

Love this picture...it just says, "peace, summertime, ice tea and relaxation" to me.
Thanks for stopping by my site!
Danielle
That picture reminds me of Einstein. When asked how he could possibly say that time is relative this was his answer:
"There is no way you can tell me that a minute spent sitting on a porch swing with a pretty girl is anywhere near as long as a minute spent sitting on a hot stove."
That's what I think too Danielle!
Thanks for reminding me of that quote Randall... I'll have to add it to my random quote list on the blog.
hope they're nice neighbors willing to let you take a swing every so often!!
How could anybody be unfriendly if they have such a wonderful swing? Maybe they need to use it more!
It IS inviting!
Neighbors can be so complicated. :)
several of my favorite blogs are friends from church and we love to love our Lord and share what He shares with us...love your site too! thanks for coming by...hope u'll come again soon
We have a swing glider outside that I rarely sit in. I must go out and dust it off.
By the Randall, what an excellent quote!
oh i think my behind needs that ;)
I would love to curl up there with a good book. Great shot.
I have neighbors like that. Too many of them, in fact. I bought my house in GA in Jan 2006. I still only have 2 neighbors that have come over to eat, but still have not had us over, and 6 neighbors who will waive from their driveway. Things sure have changed.
I am surounded by neighbors and I don't know any of them. I try to smile and wave. I think they think I'm crazy. We've lived her for over 5 years. When I grew up we knew everyone who lived on our road. A month ago, I locked myself outside my house (silly me). And I spent 4 hours outside working around the house before hub came home and let me in. I didn't even know them well enough to go ask for a phone. What are we comming to? Hurts my heart to think about it.
Kathy, I think it is a sign of the times. They are really okay when I speak to them and I've even taken things to them to share but they never initiate a conversation or even a hello wave. I just assume that they have their own lives and really aren't looking for neighbors. I would go to them if I really needed help but I have no expectation of any real connection at all. Most of my other neighbors are friendlier but we still don't neighbor like people did in years past.
Where is Mr. Rogers when you need him? BTW, my maiden name was Rogers... no relation to Fred though! (grin)
Aah, what a serene picture. Nicely composed. :D
